Robyn McAlpine recently headed out to the Medicover Squash Open 2023, at the Intersquash Club in Stockholm. This was Robyn’s first PSA Satellite event since joining the PSA and took place over Friday 8th – Sunday 10th September.
In her first round, Robyn played Lovisa Ronge (world no.253) from Sweden, winning 3 – 0 (11/7, 13/11, 11/7).
Robyn’s second match, the semi final, was a tough affair against Katie Wells from England (world no.178). Streamed on the show court, Robyn had a nervy start but gradually found her rhthym, overcoming her more experienced opponent 3 – 2 (9/11, 9/11, 11/7, 11/9, 11/9).
The final was another nervy affair, with Robyn playing Ellie Jones (world no. 171), who has recently declared her desire to represent Scotland at representative level. Robyn took the first game, however Ellie came back strong to level the match at one all. However Robyn finally found her stride, and managed to close out the match 3 – 1 (11/7, 8/11, 11/5, 11/7).
A superb tournament for Robyn, giving her great experience and valuable points gained for her climb up the world rankings. Roll on Inverness and the Scottish Open in two weeks time!
